songwriting... i tuned in to the tube today and saw a documentary on Paul Anka, that Ottawa-born hitmaker in the 50's (and still very popular)... this amazing songwriter started writing songs when he was 15/16, creating a new form of music genre in the Canadian and American musical landscape... here in his youth he was touring the vast countryside with Dick Clark and many budding, upcoming artists with only 2 years of experience, studio or no studio...

wow... makes me want to start writing tunes, which i've always dreamt of doing but was never able to... i did write song recently, which took a month to really polish... and it's not a concerto or any complicated piece... my question is are successful songwriters self-made people?... how DO they do it?...
